OCTOBER...THE GREATEST MONTH OF THE YEAR!

I'm so glad that it's October!  It's my favorite month out of the whole year (December is a close second, though).  There are a number of reason why this is my favorite month (this year in particular):
1.  The weather finally cools off!  Starting on Saturday, we will have the first continuous period of cooler weather we have had so far this fall.  It's only going to be in the 70's, but down here in Alabama, that's cool for this time of year!

2.  I'm going on a tour of one of my favorite shows on tv right now...The Vampire Diaries!  Call me a wierdo all you want, but my mom and I are obsessed with that show, and it's something we've wanted to do for a while now - to actually go to where they film the show!  As you know, we live in Alabama, and the show is filmed in Covington, GA.  That is a small town just outside of Atlanta.  There is even a chance we might get to see the cast filming part of the show!  I can't wait to do an entry about that trip!  We leave next Thursday and the tour is on Friday!!!

3.  My birthday is this month!  And who doesn't love turning one year older?  I'm just kidding...I actually LOVE my birthday!  It may sound cheesy, but it gives me a reason to get my little sister home from college for a weekend and bring together the whole family to celebrate together!  I'll be turning 25 this year...whoo hoo!

4.  Because there are only so many weekends during football season that are away games or games just not worth attending, I have a limited time frame when I can ask my sister to come home and celebrate for my birthday.  This year she is coming home next weekend, which brings me to my next fun activity!  We're going to be going to the Alabama Grand Ole Pumpkin Patch in Clanton, AL!  We have made it a tradition to go every year, and it's usually the weekend my sister comes home for my birthday.  It's such a fun place!

Our main goal is to find the perfect pumpkin to take home and carve to put outside the front door.  However, there are so many other activities to do there too:
  • Covered wagon hayride to the pumpkin patch
  • Learn a lot about Native American history
  • Shop for fall decorations and crafts
  • Petting Zoo
  • Play in the inflatable park
  • Helicopter rides
  • Take a tractor train ride
  • Hay pyramid
  • Hay maze
  • EATING- bbq, pies, roasted corn, funnel cakes, candied apples and more!
5.  Especially for this year...ME AND HUBBY ARE GOING TO WALT DISNEY WORLD!

This is going to be one of the best trips I've taken to Disney World because it's the first time I've gotten to go with my hubby!  We both LOVE Disney: Micky, Minnie, Goofy, Donald, all the princesses, the rides, the atmosphere, and the feeling of being a little kid over and over again every time you go.  It really is a magical place.  I haven't been in 6 years, but Adam has me beat there - he hasn't gone since he was 10 - he's now 26!  I told him to prepare himself because a lot has changed since then! And the exciting part is that we are getting to go in October when they have all of their fall/Halloween stuff out!

There are decorations everywhere you turn (even some with secret Mickeys hidden inside)!  And of course there is Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party that features Mickey's Boo To You Parade!  This will be both mine and Adam's first time to go to this so we are really looking forward to it!  We've heard it's AWESOME!!

6.  On top of all this, there's still Halloween coming!!!  See - the best month EVER right??  My aunt and uncle will be coming to Alabama from Texas to be with us for Halloween!  Since Adam and I are in our first house (surrounded by kids I might add), we are doing Halloween at our house this year!  We are so excited about giving out candy and seeing all the cute little kids dressed up in their costumes!  Even Adam is getting into the spirit and narrowing down his options.  He always wants to be the best dressed!

So I will definitely be keeping you all updated on this amazing month of fun, family and, of course, food!
HAPPY OCTOBER EVERYBODY!

FALL, FALL FALL!

Friday September 23 was the First Day of Fall!
It's my favorite season of the year!
The leaves are changing colors and slowly falling to the ground.
There's a nip in the air.
All around are smells of pumpkin, firewood, and apple pie.
The sunsets are breathtaking.
And it's finally time to pull out the sweaters, boots and tights!

These are just a few of the things I'd like to do this fall.
What's on your list?

Last Night's Dinner

Adam helped me cook a fantastic meal last night that would have had anyone's mouth water!  He "wasn't even hungry" until he smelled (then tasted) my pasta dish.

{Fettuccine noodles with marinara sauce and breaded chicken with provolone cheese melted on top}

Guys, I promise to eventually get a better camera so y'all can see the greatness of all the food hubby and I cook!

I'm also wanted to say how excited I am about this new show on FOX called "New Girl!"  If you haven't heard of it, it's a show about a girl that just broke up with a cheating b/f and now has to find a new place to live.  She moves in with 3 guys (who are hysterical) and they help her through her broken heart while she helps them with being more sensitive (among other things).  It's a really funny, funny show, and it stars Zooey Deshanel--LOVE HER SO MUCH!!  For those of you who don't know who Zooey is, she is so adorable and hilarious!  She has starred in other movies such as "The Happening," "500 Days of Summer," and most notably "Elf."  However, when she made "Elf" her hair was much shorter and much blonder than it is now in "New Girl."

The show comes on FOX on Tuesday nights at 8:00 to 8:30 central.  DEFINITELY CHECK IT OUT!

Welcome to the Kinsley Store!

Yes, I could open up a store in my own house with all of the clothes that I own!  The only thing is that I don't wear half of the things in my closet.  They've been collected over time since high school, (not ashamed to say b/c you all did it too) and I decided it's finally time to make a change.  At the beginning of the summer I went through all of that season's clothes and rid my closet of the unwanted or unworn items...I got rid of A LOT!  Now it's time for the fall/winter seasons and this one will be much harder to do.

I LOVE cold weather clothes!  Not for the reasons you would think though.  I would much much rather be cold than hot any day of the year, ergo my favorite clothing choices!  So when I get to pull out my chunky sweaters, jeans, turtle necks and boots, my day is complete!  This is what I brought down from the closet upstairs that contains all of the FUN clothes for the year!

And after all of...oh I'd say...15 minutes I was left with these items that I wanted to keep!

So yes I only ended parting with about 1 hoodie, 2 shirts and a skirt that should have permanently stayed in the 90's!
After that "long workout of sorting through clothes all afternoon," my talented husband and I made a delicious dinner!  I meant to take step by step pictures to show each of you how to make this dish, but don't worry...I will get better at that!  He made yummy pork chops on the grill and I made the side of broccoli and garlic with salt and pepper and olive oil baked till they turned slightly brown and juicy!

You can check out the recipe here!  It's from a fantastic website I found online called SkinnyTasteGina Homolka is the creative and health conscious writer and developer of SkinnyTaste.  She's been featured many different magazines and websites b/c her stuff is so scrumptious!  If you aren't checking on what she's been cooking up at least every other day then I don't have to tell you what you are missing out on!

Y'all try to stay dry or warm or cool for some of you still if you're in the southern region like moi.  See ya!

The Vampire Diaries

One of mine and my mom's favorite shows FINALLY decided to grace us with it's presence Thursday night!  After nearly 4 months of waiting, "The Vampire Diaries" has come back!  My mom and I never miss an episode.  I love this show for so many reasons:

  1. Similar to Twilight or any other vampire movie or show, I love how it takes place in a beautiful yet creepy old, small town.  They do a great job with the lighting and locations to make it look mysterious and intriguing.  I feel like I am there with them when I watch.
  2. I love the actors and their chemistry with one another.  The main 3 characters: Elena Gilbert (Nina Dobrev, who also plays Katherine Pierce), Stefan Salvatore (Paul Wesley) and Damon Salvatore (Ian Somerhalder) give such convincing portrayals.  It is a love triangle at it's peak!  Then there are Jeremy Gilbert (Steven R. McQueen), Bonnie Bennett (Katerina Graham), Caroline Forbes (Candice Accola), Matt Donovan (Zach Roerig), Tyler Lockwood (Michael Trevino) and Alaric Saltzman (Matthew Davis).  Each actor brings something special to the show.
  3. The story line always keeps you guessing.....period.
  4. THE FASHION!  I know most everyone in the show dresses fairly casual, but everyone could afford to dress comfy every once in a while!  That goes for you guys too!

Frye Carmen Harness Short Boots
BCGB One Shoulder Combo Cocktail Dress
Free People Top Down Jacket
John Varvatos Calfskin Multi-Pocket Zip Jacket
Ryder Leather Motocross Jacket
Lucky Brand Abby Road Fold-Over Tote
KRMA Jade Leather Jacket
Alternative Apparel Eco-Heather ¾ Sleeve Raglan Henley
Lucky Brand Lace Tank

Everyone have a fun football day, and eat as much as you want! (We get to cover up for the next 8 months!)
